The NAACP Saturday School Program was established in 1990 at
California Lutheran University by concerned parents, educators and
interested community members to motivate African‑American youth
and their families into a shared learning and teaching partnership.
Students are provided a positive learning experience focusing on the
educational, social, cultural, and historical contributions of the
African‑American community.  The mission of the program is to enrich
the lives of African‑American youth members and their families in a structured, cooperative learning environment. Sponsorship of the NAACP Saturday School includes California Lutheran University, California State University, Northridge, and Moorpark Community College.

The NAACP Saturday Program goals for our  students are:

•To succeed in school
•To improve self‑esteem
•To increase heritage awareness
•To enhance academic skills
•To complete and accept challenges
•To develop team and leadership skills
•To communicate openly in a loving environment

"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which one has overcome while trying  to succeed." ‑ Booker T. Washington
